Salema booking policy

This booking policy applies to all bookings for 2021 and 2022.

To provide sufficient reassurance for your booking with Simply Salema at this current time, we would be pleased to exceptionally deviate from our cancellation policy and related provisions dealing with events beyond our reasonable control set out in our standard Booking Terms and Conditions (“T&Cs”), which govern any contract we would enter into with you in respect of your booking.

Instead of applying such cancellation policy and related provisions dealing with events beyond our reasonable control in the event any applicable circumstances arise, and you having to claim on your travel insurance (which may or may not be possible depending on the terms of your insurance policy), we would roll-over all monies paid by you for your booking as a credit voucher.

Unless otherwise agreed, the voucher would have no ‘cash-in’ value and expire after 24 months from your booking start date. The voucher could be used towards any future booking within this period, subject to availability. Should the price of your future booking exceed the voucher value, an additional cost equal to the difference would be payable.

  1. The exception to our standard T&Cs would only apply for specific Covid-19 / pandemic related circumstances beyond our reasonable control that make it impossible for your booking as contracted to go ahead at all or in any fundamental respect(s) or for us to fulfil the contract in respect of your booking, including (for example and without limitation) any government directives prohibiting international travel, border closures, closure of holiday accommodation and/or mandatory lockdown requirements put in place in either Portugal and/or the country of residence of the Party Leader (e.g. the UK). In which case we will offer a full roll-over of all monies paid by you as a credit voucher from 28 days before your booking arrival date up until arrival day itself.
  2. The exception to our standard T&Cs would also apply to any mandatory requirement to quarantine for a period in excess of 5 days upon arrival in Portugal or upon return to the country of residence of the Party Leader (e.g. the UK) due to where you have travelled from and/or through. For the avoidance of doubt for UK residents, should Portugal be classed on the ‘red’ or ‘amber’ lists of destinations from 28 days before your booking arrival date up until arrival day itself (AND if ‘amber’, you still have to quarantine for a period in excess of 5 days if you are fully vaccinated at that time), this exception to our standard T&Cs would also apply. In which case we will offer a full roll-over of all monies paid by you as a credit voucher on the following terms:
    – If you wish to cancel because of a quarantine that is already in place 28 days before your booking arrival date, we must receive notification of cancellation between 28-14 days before your booking arrival date. Therefore for clarity, if you wish to cancel because of a quarantine that is already in place 28 days before your booking arrival date, there will be no roll-over of any monies paid if we receive notification of cancellation between 13-0 days of your booking arrival date.
    – If you wish to cancel because of a quarantine that is brought in within 28 days of your booking arrival date, we must receive notification of cancellation between 28-14 days before your booking arrival date where possible; or if the quarantine is brought in between 13-0 days of your booking arrival date, we must receive notification of cancellation within 2 days of the quarantine taking effect.

For the avoidance of doubt, this exception to our standard T&Cs would not apply to (for example and without limitation):

  • your ‘disinclination to travel’ for any other reason;
  • you, or anyone in your booking party, testing positive for Covid-19 and having to self-isolate for a period of time, or being notified or otherwise becoming aware that you have, or suspect you may have, come into close contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19 (or where he or she otherwise suspects he or she may have Covid-19) and having to self-isolate for a period of time, prior to the booking commencing or once the booking has commenced;
  • you, or anyone in your booking party, failing any tests, checks or other measures imposed by a supplier, airline, port or airport, border control authority or other government body or local authority or failing to submit for testing or assessment when requested to do so, and as such being denied the opportunity to board, embark or travel, entry to the destination or access to the services or being otherwise unable to proceed with the booking or that portion of the booking;
  • the curtailment of your booking due to any circumstances beyond our reasonable control (whether Covid-19 / pandemic related or otherwise) arising once the booking has commenced;
    or
  • any non-Covid-19 / pandemic related circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
